Well, it wasn’t a bank holiday but it was over a month since our previous meet up, and since SARS-Cov-2 has disobligingly failed to go away, we decided to make the first weekend of the month the time to meet online together with the North-West Wales 16mm Area Group to post photos to our virtual meet up site.
Meeting Report
May ’20 Virtual Meetup 2
Another bank holiday gave us a reason to hold our third virtual meet-up since he Covid-19 pandemic put our face-to-face meet-ups on hold. Like our previous meet-ups at Easter and the VE Day weekend we joined together with the North-West Wales 16mm Area Group to post photos to our virtual meet up site.
May ’20 Virtual Meetup 1
Although the Covid-19 pandemic has put our face-to-face meet-ups on hold, we held a successful ‘virtual meet up’ over the Easter weekend in co-operation with the North-West Wales 16mm Area Group. So over the first May bank holiday (the VE Day weekend) once again we all posted photos to our virtual meet up site.
April ’20 virtual meetup
The Covid-19 pandemic put our face-to-face meet-ups on hold. But what else would we do in lockdown but play trains and build more railway? So we organised an ‘virtual meet up’ in co-operation with the North-West Wales 16mm Area Group where we all posted photos (and some videos) to the same website over the four days of the Easter weekend.
December ’19 meeting at the Lambak Garden Railway
A few days before Christmas we gathered at the Lambak Garden Railway for our annual festive gathering. Two roaring fires kept the cold away, and dried us off after each running session was curtailed by a sudden downpour!
October 19 meet at the Brockhampton and Umbridge Railway
For the second of our October meets we returned to the Brockhampton & Umbridge Railway. This time the rain was heavy, and the hospitality shed warm and even more welcoming – but there were gaps in the showers when the sun shone, and the beautifully modelled buildings were reflected in the puddles and the wet pavements.
October 19 Meet at the Rhos and Betws Tramway
For the first of our October meets we returned to the Rhos and Betws tramway. Despite the arrival of autumn, the weather was kind enough to give us a dry morning before steady precipitation set in over lunch.
August 19 Meet at the Brockhampton and Umbridge Railway
Despite fears about the weather (this was August in Britain after all) the meeting was favoured with sunshine. Even then the new and well-appointed ‘hospitality shed’ proved popular, but some members did venture out to the garden railway to run some trains, as the following photographs prove…
July 19 Meet at The Fairwood Valley Light Railway
Our July meeting was attended by 14 members of the group, who took a trip through the spectacular garden in which the Fairwood Valley Light Railway is set. A delightful line with some spectacular feats of civil engineering!
June 19 Meet at Alpenferry
Our June meeting took place at Alpenferry, currently perhaps the only 45mm gauge layout in our group(?) though it won’t be the only one soon! It is a G scale layout in an alpine setting, featuring two (physically separate) loops capable of independent running.
