For the first of our April meetings we went along to the Llanelli & District Model Engineering Society‘s spring rally at Pembrey Country Park to run on the small 32mm gauge layout right behind the station.
It was another sunny day – unusual for one of our meets! But the wind was blowing hard to make up for it. There were an impressive array of 5″ and 7¼” locos in steam – with a passenger service being run on the ground level line – and several traction engines too.
There aren’t just 5″ and 7¼” tracks at Pembrey – embedded in the concrete are the remains of the 2′ gauge network from the wartime munitions factory operations…

Visiting 16mm scale stock included a Fowler railcar, a Regner Konrad, a Bachmann Double Fairlie and Roundhouses Little John and Billy.
